Upcoming Movies

Will Smith has been in the news lately with a few updates on his upcoming movies and things to come:

First, we will begin with an update on a Hancock sequel. Rumors surfaced soon after the theater release of Hancock that a Hancock 2 might be in the works. Yet, most people didn’t really think it would happen due to the mediocre reviews of the first movie. But despite all of that, JoBlow recently contacted Will Smith and found out that a Hancock 2 is “definetly” happening. Will Smith also went on to say that there are a lot of unexplored characters in the Hancock universe. Who knows. 

Either way, a second film will be a hit in theaters because Will Smith as a superhero is still an awesome idea. Hancock cost 150 million dollars to make and generated a whopping 624.4 million dollars worldwide.

The second Will Smith news update centers around a prequel for I Am Legend. Originally, when the rumors floated around about another I Am Legend, I wasn’t too thrilled. But the more I think about it, the better it sounds. I Am Legend 2 (as we will call it) will show you the events that led up to the original I Am Legend movie. Collider reported this new information based on an interview with Will Smith:

We have a fantastic prequel idea…we’re still trying to work through a couple of bumps in the story. It’s essentially the fall of the last city – the last stand of Manhattan.

So with another Hancock and I Am Legend in the works, Will Smith continues to keep busy. Expect to hear more about these movies as time goes on. It will likely be about two years until we see either of these movies.

Until then, Will Smith will have a few other movies to keep everyone happy. His next film, Seven Pounds, will come to theaters on December 19, 2008. To learn more about Seven Pounds, view the trailer.
