While there have been many internet rumors for Anchorman 2, it has been mostly speculation. Some characters from the first Anchorman have said they would like to make another one someday but never Ron Burgundy himself. It stayed this way until Will Ferrell was conducting an interview for his latest movie, Step Brothers, that he mentioned “We might do another Anchorman, potentially. That’s such a fun character to do again.”
This is great news for all Anchorman lovers out there. While this is far from any confirmation, it is great to know that Ferrell would be on board to make another. He also said, ”We had so much fun making that movie, and it was hard to get made. But what’s been great is it’s kind of taken on such a life of its own.”
Will Ferrell isn’t lying when he says he enjoys being the character Ron Burgundy because he was still doing skits as him earlier this year. I happened to see one of these skits at the “Funny or Die” promotional tour for Semi-Pro at The Ohio State University’s campus. Will Ferrell came on stage wearing the classic plaid suit and did an interview with Ohio State’s current president. It was very entertaining and he did a great job as always.
Steve Carell, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell have all already said they would join together to get the second movie going. Hopefully Christina Applegate and a few others jump on board as well. Until then, “stay classy San Diego” and hope your favorite news team comes back soon!
